How Yeats Borrowed an Old Song When Writing The Salley Gardens

The classic Irish song Raglan Road is one of the greatest love poems of the last century - yet it was a throwaway jibe about cabbages and turnips that led to it being written. The song began life as a poem by the great Irish writer Patrick Kavanagh. He was the self-styled peasant poet because he often wrote about country and farming matters, even to the point of referring to vegetables.

Time For Ladies Enjoy the Night in Your Own Way

Most of the theaters in Manhattan are clustered around the Times Square area called, appropriately, the Theater District. However only 6 of the 39 major theaters are actually located on Broadway. To further complicate matters, several "off-Broadway" theaters have addresses on Broadway. So what is the difference?

Did YOU Feel The Quake??

If you live on the East Coast, chances are you’ve felt the earthquake that just struck outside of Washington, D.C.
The epicenter of the quake was in Mineral, Virginia; just short of four miles deep. Preliminary reports rate it to be a 5.8 magnitude.
No major injuries have been reported as of yet, thank goodness.
Did you [...]

Hopefully she'll be less cold to her ACTUAL child!!!

During a recent interview, child actor Jared Gilmore who previously played January/Betty Draper's son on Mad Men opened up about the actress's on-set attitude.

Here's the advice that Jared had to give his replacement actor about January:

"Be careful around January [Jones]. She’s not as approachable as the others. She’s really serious about what she does. Everyone else is so nice."

Brrrr, Ms. Jones! We think it's great that you're very focused while at work....but just because your character Betty Draper is cold DOESN'T mean you also have to be cold, especially to the kids on set!

Just sayin'!

Metal Wall Art Make an Eye Popping Statement With Metal Wall Art

Trying to buy tickets for a popular concert or sports event can be a frustrating experience. Believe me, I know. If you're like me, you've probably run into a message telling you that there were no more tickets available, even though tickets only went sale a few minutes ago! You logged in on time, zoomed through the ticket buying process, and even tried pulling tickets in multiple windows..and yet nothing. Frustrated, you bang your fist on the keyboard, causing everything to fall in a chain reaction like a car crash at the Daytona 500.

Presale Passwords: The Key To Getting Great Tickets Early

If you've been looking for a disk jockey for your wedding reception, or any other event, then there's little doubt that you've discovered the huge gulf between various prices. It's blaringly obvious that some DJs are just much more expensive than others, and you might think that you're being cheated if you pay for one of the more expensive ones over their cheaper counterparts.

Alanis Morisette Jagged Little Pill

How many of you have ever been touched in your Soul by an amazing piece of music? My guess is that there is not one person out there who can declare that they made it through life without being somehow Spiritually moved by this amazing creation and gift called music. Some could argue deafness, but I believe music is an experience not just a sound. The thing is, music evokes something much deeper than what we hear with our ears.

The Story Behind The Song Alas And Did My Savior Bleed

If you're a piano player and a decent sight-reader and you've never had the opportunity to do anything with your musical talent, you might want to consider volunteering to play ballet class music for a ballet school in your area. Ballet class music is fun and easy to play and many schools will even pay a decent wage for your service once you become proficient at it.

The Growing Popularity of E Books and E Guides

Clothing is one of the challenges of man in the primitive era, efforts were made by man to create shelter for himself. Base on this fact, cloths were made from hides and skin of animal and leaves to meet the need. In our modern era, clothing is more of necessity than luxury. "It seems a lot of people in power are not comfortable with women writing or directing. They think it's incompatible with motherhood or some other responsibility, and that freaks me out. A lot of women are doing amazing things as producers and executive producers, but on the creative side? Not as much, and that's deeply depressing."

Holmesian Deduction: The Way of Sherlock Holmes

If you're a fan of House M.D. and Gregory House's fantastic wit, intelligence and deductive, problem solving ability, you may wonder whether he takes anything from the classic literary detective Sherlock Holmes. Both are excellent problem-solvers, rational minds that are faced with mysteries deemed unsolvable by even the more experienced members of their chosen profession. The similarities between Dr. House and Mr. Holmes don't end there, by any means.

Brett Favres Sister Sued Over Meth Lab Meltdown

Brett Favre’s sister Brandi was not only busted for Meth recently, but now a neighbor is filing a lawsuit over damage to their home. As if getting caught up in a huge meth bust wasn’t enough, now the famous quarterback’s sister is being sued. Apparently the next door neighbor feels like a meth-related fire at Brandi Favre’s house caused “widespread meth contamination” to their home. “Meth contamination”? Is there even such a thing? I guess so. So the couple feels that they should receive money because they say their house was unlivable for at least five years. They also claim that it cost them a bunch of money to fix the issue. Yay! More yummy yummy Dr. Drew goodness will be back on our teevees!!

Despite earlier rumors that said that the VH1 reality show Celebrity Rehab was going off the air, it turns out it "isn't canceled."

Phew.

An insider says:

"A new deal is close to being signed and Pasadena Recovery Center readying the facility for more production."

And that better mean that our favorite resident technician Shelly will be back!

The show has received some criticism after two of their stars, Jeff Conaway and Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr, passed away after completing treatment.

But honestly, that has nothing to do with the show itself as it does give an honest look at to what it's like dealing with addictions and being in a treatment center.

Hopefully, the show still can provide a positive experience for those who need it and will continue having success stories.

Celebrity Birthdays January 5: Carrie Ann Inaba, Bradley Cooper, Kristin Cavallari More!

Happy Thursday to you all! The week is flying by, before you know it, the weekend will be here once again. Who else is ready for some weekend fun? Me! Me! Me! It’s the last hurrah before my kids head back to school. As far as celebrity birthdays go today, everyone’s favorite resident bartender on ship turns 64, “Fallon Carrington” is 59 and “Betty Draper” is 34. Guess who? Happy Birthday, Carrie Ann Inaba! The “Dancing With the Stars” judge is 44 years old today. The next season of DWTS will begin in March, and I’m just chomping at the bit to find out who the next round of stars will be to grace the ballroom floor. No doubt Carrie Ann is enjoying some down time, and hopefully getting more of those wedding plans in order. Last year she became engaged after her boyfriend, Jesse Sloan, proposed to her while she was guest hosting on “Live With Regis and Kelly”. It was so sweet! A true awww moment. Happy Birthday, Bradley Cooper! The hunky “Hangover” actor is 37 years old today. Cooper, who last year was named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive, has a new lady love in his life, “Avatar” [...]

Aw, New Yorkers, you're so lucky!

Instead of doing a traditional tour, Björk has announced that she'll be setting up a residency in New York to showcase her album Biophilia.

She'll be doing a ten-night run in New York City in February and March, as well as a three-week long education workshop. Not exactly sure what that even entails, but it sounds fabulous.

The press release describes it as:

"Featuring interactive science and music workshops for middle-school children, the series leads students on an intensive study of the scientific concepts at the core of Biophilia‘s songs, including crystalline structures, lunar phases, viruses and more. Students will also learn to use the Biophilia apps as tools for music composition. This program has been incorporated into the Icelandic school syllabus…

Björk has collaborated with app developers, scientists, writers, inventors, musicians, and instrument makers to create a unique multi-media exploration of the universe and its physical forces–particularly those where music, nature and technology meet. The project is inspired by and explores these relationships between musical structures and natural phenomena, from the atomic to the cosmic."

Six shows will take place in the New York Hall of Science and the remaining four will be at the famous Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan. She will also be doing other shows around Europe in March through August.

The concert series will include an orchestra filled with a vast array of instruments as well as the award-winning 24-piece Icelandic female choir.
