Portia de Rossi and Ellen Show Home In Architectural Digest

Portia de Rossi and Ellen show their home in November’s issue of Architectural Digest (where they also appear on the cover) and hope that if you take a liking to their abode you’ll want to purchase it. Yes, they’ve put their put their 9,200 square foot property on the market for $49 million, listed in MLS a few days ago, although it reportedly was for sale since June through the Westside Estate Agency website. Portia and Ellen bought the home in 2007 from ‘Will & Grace’ creator Max Mutchnick for $29 million. He had invited the couple over for a night of American Idol watching and it was love at first sight for the Arrested Development star and talk show host. de Rossi told Architectural Digest, “We’d heard how beautiful it was. …We pulled into the driveway and—we just knew before we even walked through the gate.” The beautiful home was the setting of their 2008 nuptials, and according to THR, they enlisted the help of several Los Angeles designers to find furniture and the like to adorn the abode. Degeneres told AD that this was the seventh home that the two have lived in and joked that she can’t [...]

DWTS Week 3 Shocking Elimination! Who Was Sent Home?

Tonight’s Dancing With The Stars results show proved to be a shocker, and it probably came down to America thinking this celebrity was safe after a great performance last night and scores from the judges that reflected as such. So as you can surmise, Chaz Bono was not sent home, even after garnering the lowest score of the evening. Nancy Grace was safe as well. So who was sent home? We begin the show with Mary J. Blige performing ‘Real Love’. The first three couples to learn their fate are J.R. & Karina, Ricki & Derek and Chaz & Lacey. Jr & Karina learned they were safe first, then Chaz & Lacey surprised that they were safe as well. As for Ricki & Derek? Yep, of course they’re safe! After Len gave his two cents on how the couples performed the night before (fantastic, blah blah blah), he wanted to see Chynna and Tony give an encore performance. Four couples are up next to see if they’re safe or in jeopardy. Rob & Cheryl were the first to hear they were safe, followed by Carson & Anna, who unfortunately were in jeopardy, Nancy & Tristan were safe and then Hope [...]

This is getting so out of control. We're not happy that this movement, once peaceful and SOMETHING, has now turned to bloodshed.

Last night, a group of 1,000 protesters in Oakland, CA were gassed and shot at by the local police after they allegedly "started throwing bottles, paints, beer, eggs" at officers. Late into the night, officials deployed tear gas on the crowd and began arresting people for disrupting the peace. But things took a turn for the worst when the police started using either rubber bullets or bean bag rounds to bring the chaos to order. (The police are saying one thing, the protesters another.)

Unfortunately, things ended badly for one young man who was actually shot in the face during the mayhem. Video capturing the gruesome scene has gone viral, but it isn't for the faint of heart. The video contains NSFW language and disturbing images of the man being carried by his comrades in the streets searching for help, blood pouring from his face that was wounded.

Still, its important to see how this movement is progressing even far beyond the reaches of Wall Street and how much more violent it is becoming because it. We're all for change, but mostly, we want people to stay safe.

Please stay safe out there.

Soap Dish: Web Series Venice: The Series Must See!

It is Soap Dish time and this week I am dishing on a show you have to check out, the web series “Venice: The Series.” Yep it is online and one of my favorite soaps to date. I have been a fan of the web series ‘Venice: The Series” since it began in November of 2009. It is a show about an openly gay single woman played by the show creator and veteran soap opera actress Crystal Chappell. It was her “labor of love” as she calls it and you can tell every time you watch it. The show was inspirited by the popularity of the same-sex couple Otalia of which Crystal played Olivia on Guiding Light. When the show was cancelled “Venice: The Series” was born. GL fans will not see Natalia and Olivia so don’t get excited. Although Otalia inspired the show it follows Chappell’s character who is a designer and lives in Venice Beach. However fans of any soap or soap couple can get excited about this show because not only is it great writing with great storylines, it also stars some of daytimes current and former stars. When Crystal decided to move forward with the show, [...]

Arts and Entertainment:Music from EzineArticles.com

It is very difficult to find any adult who doesn't like music. Everyone has their own taste and enjoys different types of music, but there aren't many people out there who completely dislike music. In fact, most adults enjoy listening to the radio or downloaded music in their free time. They listen in their car on the way to work and in the shower when getting ready for the day. They may even listen to it through an mp3 player when working out or running errands.

An Introduction to Battlefield 3

I believe that nothing holds more quintessential charm than early 19th century, English, blue transfer ware, otherwise known as "blue and white". Charm is a word we hear very little of these days, although it's something we naturally look for. We may not often hear the word, but there's a part of us that seeks it out.

Music Review: Bela Bartok Bartok New Series

Sometime back I posted my selection of the Top 50 songs from the Eighties which not only defined the Hit Factor of the period but literally defined the industry on a whole taking the direction of music and style into altogether a new dimension. I was encouraged by the readership of this article and so here I come with a listing of the Top 50 songs from the 90's.

So You Think You Can Write A Hit Song?

They came and before you knew it they were gone? I have always wondered how they managed to create that single 15 minutes of fame and yet not be able to sustain it thereafter. One Hit Wonders are a listing of those songs which were probably the only hit from these artists. They may have been able to follow it up with another song or two, however none of these follow-ups could meet the hit-factor of their original hit. This would be probably be the only big song you would know of the artist and in most cases these artists have disappeared to oblivion now. One would always wonder where are they today.

Classical Guitar Course on Alternate Picking

Hanging out and enjoying your records can often lead to a terrible mechanical misfortune. If someone has an aging record player it can be worrisome putting their beloved album under the needle. If it operates correctly without scratching and permanently damaging the record, maintaining the correct speed can be challenging as well. No one wants to worry about all of these problems when all they want to do is kick back with a beer and mellow out to the classic stunning guitar wail from their prized Jimi Hendrix vinyl collection.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees: Joan Jett, Heart, Guns N Roses More!

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for 2012 were announced this morning. Who will be inducted this time around? First time nominees include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Cure, Heart and Guns N’ Roses. Several groups return for another chance at induction, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys, Donovan and War. So many of these acts were such a part of my growing up, and a definite soft spot for Joan Jett. Her I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll album was one of the first records I purchased, and remember that day as if it were yesterday. It was played so much that it skipped during Crimson and Clover. Oh, the memories! Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, spoke of the elite group of candidates: “The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what ‘rock and roll’ means. From vocal groups to hip hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” A committee of 40 rock aficionados select the nominees, and ballots are then sent out to 500 rock and roll [...]

With everything that Kevin Williamson is up to these days, we're not surprised at all that they'd need a new writer!

Designed to awaken members' super powers, the Church of Scientology is putting their finishing touches on the The Super Power Building.

This will be the place to go if you want to enhance any of your 57 perceptics (powers that scientologists claim to possess).

A spokesman for the Church states:

[Super Power training is] a series of spiritual counseling processes designed to give a person back his own viewpoint, increase his perception, exercise his power of choice, and greatly enhance other spiritual abilities.

Created within the mind of founder L. Ron Hubbard himself, he claimed this energy mecca would:

...put scientologists into a new realm of ability enabling them to create the new world. It puts the world clearing within reach in the future.

Yeah, whatever that means...

The Super Power Building has cost $90 million to make. The futuristic castle of gyms boasts 889 rooms, NASA-esque training equipment, 42 bathrooms, a dining room that seats 1,140, and an outdoor terrace that would put even the Titanic to shame.

So we guess we'll be seeing Tom Cruise in the sky soon enough, huh? HA!

OH! Bee tee dub! This thing is in Florida!

WTF!?! How much will the Hollywood followers have to fly back and forth til they become superheroes???

Red Dirt Bands: Jackson Taylor

After Midnight Project (AMP), is towards the harder end of the spectrum as far as my musical tastes go, considerably darker and more rock-y than say, Hellogoodbye, who I'm a big fan of. I first caught an AMP show at Warped 2009 and they left a minor impression. There are a lot of bands I've never heard of that play on the Warped Tour...
